When is the exhibition being held?

September 16 (Thu) and 17 (Fri) are the Business Days, and September 18 (Sat) and 19 (Sat) are the Public Days. Admission to the Business Days program is limited to those in the game business and members of the press who will be reporting on the Tokyo Game Show.

What time does the exhibition open?

The exhibition opens at 10:00 and closes at 17:00. On Public Days, depending on the situation, the opening time may be revised to 9:30, at the earliest. Please note that, on Public Days (September 18 and 19), the admission gates will close at 16:00.

When will the next exhibition (2011) be held?

The date of the 2011 exhibition has not been decided. It will be announced on the official website and through other means as soon as it has been determined.

Admission tickets for Public Days

How much is a general admission ticket?

The prices for Public Days admission tickets are 1,200 yen for tickets purchased the day of the event (tax included) and 1,000 yen for advance tickets. Admission is free for elementary school children and younger.
Please note that each ticket is valid once for one day only. For more detailed information on admission tickets, see [Tickets] .

When can I buy the advance tickets?

Public Days (September 18 and 19) advance tickets are on sale from July 14 to September 17, 2010. On-the-day tickets are available at the exhibition venue.

Where can I buy the advance tickets?

Advance tickets are sold on-line at [Tickets] on the official website. Payment can be made by credit card only.

What time do on-the-day tickets sales begin in the morning?

The tickets sale will begin at the departure time of the first train leaving JR Keiyo Line Kaihin-Makuhari Station.

Is a Public Days admission ticket valid for two days?

No. These tickets are valid once for one day only.

Are discounted ticket prices available for senior citizens?

For citizens who are 70 years or older, specially discounted tickets (100 yen, tax included) are available from the on-the-day ticket counters at the exhibition venue. However, there are no discounted advance tickets available for senior citizens.

Are discounted ticket prices available for people with disabilities?

Specially discounted tickets (100 yen, tax included) are available for disabled people at the on-the-day ticket counters of the Exhibition facility. However, there are no discounted advance tickets available for people with disabilities. This discount is available under the following circumstances:

・Please show certificate at the counter.

・In cases where a care assistant’s help is required, a discount ticket will be offered to the care assistant.

Are group discounts available?

There are no group discounts available for advance ticket or on-the-day ticket purchases.

Business Days

Can anyone be admitted to the Business Days program?

Admission to the Business Days program is limited to those in the game business and members of the press who will be reporting on the Tokyo Game Show. Others, who wish to attend for purposes other than business, persons less than 18 years old, and students will not be admitted. If you are a member of the public, please attend during the Public Days (September 18 and 19).

What do I need to know about the Business Days ticket?

For admission to the Business Days (September 16 and 17), a “Business Days Registration Ticket” or an “Exchange Ticket for Business Day Pass” is required. Pre-registration is required for both the ticket and the pass. Please access [Tickets (advance registration for the Business Days)] to pre-register.

*“Business Days Registration Tickets” are distributed by exhibiting companies. If you do not have a “Business Days Registration Ticket,” please purchase an “Exchange Ticket for Business Day Pass.” For details, see [Tickets (advance registration for the Business Days)] .

Will students of game vocational schools be admitted to the Business Days program?

No students of any kind will be admitted to the Business Days program. Please come on the Public Days (September 18 and 19).

I did not pre-register before the deadline. Can I still be admitted to the Business Days program?

Please show the items listed below at the admissions counter. You will be admitted after confirming that you work in the game business.

  • Passport or other identification with photograph
  • Employee ID card (if you do not have your employee ID card with you, you must provide a document that shows you work for your company)
  • Two business cards
  • Business Days Registration Ticket (if you have a ticket)

* The confirmation process may take a long while. We strongly suggest that you pre-register before coming to the exhibition venue.
* Please note that if we are unable to confirm that you are in the game business, you might not be admitted.

I do not carry business cards. Is there anything I can do?

Please show the following items at the admissions counter.
1. A form of identification, with photograph (driver’s license, passport, health insurance certificate, etc.), which shows that you are not less than 18 years old; or your employee ID card with photograph
2. A document that shows you are an employee of a game-related business (front cover of your pay statement etc.)

* If you do not have any of the above documents with you, you may not be admitted even if you have a “Business Days Registration Ticket”.
* Please note that we might call your work place for confirmation.

Wheelchair

Are rental wheelchairs available?

Wheelchairs are available in the Makuhari Messe parking lot. However, since the number of wheelchairs is limited, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Makuhari Messe (Tel: +81-43-296-0001) for inquiries. In addition, there are special gates for wheelchair users on the second floor concourse. Please check with the staff at the venue for more information.

Babies

May I use a stroller in the exhibition venue?

We expect the exhibition venue to be very crowded. For safety, we ask visitors to refrain from using a stroller at the exhibition.

Are rental strollers available?

There are no rental strollers available. For safety, we ask visitors to refrain from using a stroller at the exhibition venue.

Are there diaper-changing stations?

There are diaper-changing stations in all women’s restrooms at the exhibition venue. There are also diaper-changing stations in the nursing room near the central entrance of International Exhibition Hall 5 on the second floor.

Are there nursing rooms?

There is a nursing room near the central entrance of International Exhibition Hall 5 on the second floor. The following equipment is available in the room: a nursing corner (three separate rooms), a diaper changing station, a washstand, and a water heater for preparing infant milk formula.

Pets

Will pets be allowed to attend?

No, pets are not allowed. The “Strawberry House,” located in the Hotel New Otani, can provide temporary pet care services. For more information, please contact Hotel New Otani Makuhari (Tel: + 81-43-297-7777) for inquiries.

Eating and drinking

May I bring a packed lunch?

Bringing a packed lunch is allowed. However, meals are allowed only in the eating and drinking corners, resting spaces, and food court in the Family Corner.

Lost and found

I lost my belongings. Whom should I contact?

If you have lost belongings at the exhibition venue during the exhibition period, please come to the Lost and Found Center on the north side of Hall 4.

Please contact the Makuhari Messe Total Management Center (Tel: +81-43-296-0531) after the exhibition is over (September 20 or later).

Cosplay

Is cosplay allowed?

Yes, but there are restrictions, and we have some requests. For details, see [To Cosplayers].

Is any cosplay okay?

We do not allow cosplay that goes against good taste or makes people uncomfortable.

May I photograph or record video of cosplay?

Recording video or taking photos is allowed only in certain areas designated by the secretariat, including some areas in the Yasuragi Mall (between Halls 3 and 4). It is prohibited in the changing rooms, cloak area, around exhibition booths, busy hallways, etc.

Photos and videos

May I photograph or record video of the exhibition?

With regard to taking photographs or recording video of the exhibiting companies’ booths (including any exhibits and companions), the rules set out by each exhibiting company must be observed. When taking photographs or recording video of visiting individuals such as cosplayers, please obtain the individual’s prior approval to protect their privacy and portrait rights. When taking photographs or recording video of the event stage, rules will differ depending on the program. Please follow the staff’s instructions.

What will the exhibiting companies’ be exhibiting?

The exhibit content and exhibiting game titles from each booth will be publicized separately on the news release page.

Waiting up all night

May I wait up all night at the exhibition venue prior to the opening?

Waiting up all night at the exhibition venue is strongly prohibited.

Playing Z-rated games

What is required to play CERO Z-rated games?

If you wish to play Z-rated games (game software that include content for adults aged 18 years and older), you must present a document that shows your age (driver’s license, passport, student ID card, etc.).
Your age will be checked at each booth. Please follow the booth staff’s instructions.

Visitors from overseas

I need a visa to visit Japan. Can you issue a letter of invitation?

The Tokyo Game Show does not issue letters of invitation for potential visitors from overseas. Please consult your travel agency.

Can I buy an admission ticket from abroad?

Yes, the tickets are available online. For Public Days tickets, go to[Tickets].
For Business Days tickets, go to [Tickets (Advance registration for Business Days )].
Public Days tickets are also available at the exhibition venue on the day.

Other

Is the distribution of flyers and other materials allowed at the exhibition venue or nearby stations?

Regardless of whether you are acting as an individual or representing a corporation, exhibiting company, or non-exhibiting company, the distribution of flyers and other promotional materials at the exhibition venue or the Makuhari Messe is prohibited. (However, an exhibiting company may distribute materials at its booth. Additionally, exhibiting companies that are allowed in the sponsorship menu are exempted from this prohibition.) Moreover, distribution of materials outside the exhibition venue (i.e., in front of the station or on the streets and sidewalks leading to the exhibition venue) is prohibited according to the Chiba City ordinance.

Are you recruiting part-time staff?

No. We are not recurring part-time staff for the secretariat of the Tokyo Game Show 2010.
