Picture Quality Features and Technologies of LG OLED-TV

From this year, OLED TV as a new display device has been launched at world-wide TV markets. He would like to introduce the features of the new TV. His presentation includes the features of WRGB OLED, its characteristics of picture quality and related certifications. He also explains the design method of curvature radius and merits analysis for the curved OLED-TV.

He received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electronics engineering from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, in 1985, 1990 and 1994. From 1985 to 2000, he was with the DTV lab. LG Electronics Inc., Seoul, Korea, where he was engaged in the development of DTV SoC and H/W platform for DTV sets.

Since 2005, he has been working in TV research lab., TV division, LG Electronics Inc., Pyeongtaek city, Korea. His current research interests are picture quality improvement for LCD, PDP and OLED TV sets.

Novel electron injection inorganic material for improving OLED display

Lithium fluoride (LiF) and alkaline-doped organic materials are used for the electron injection material of OLED. We developed the amorphous C12A7 electride (a-C12A7:e-) thin film by applying sputtering process with using C12A7 electride target. Work function of a-C12A7:e- film is about 3.0 eV. The film is transparent and chemically stable. We introduce properties and application of a-C12A7:e- film to the electron injection layer of OLED

Leading-edge Technologies of Flexible Organic Light Emitting Devices

Focusing on graphic display image for next generation, flexible organic light emitting display are actively studied and windable panel and panel with input function are demonstrated. Attractive point of flexible nature is flexibility and portability. To demonstrate this nature, resolution of various kinds of technological issues have to be necessary. In this presentation, patterning-, printing-, and coating technologies, barrier-film technology, wireless and cordless-technologies and final panel production will be discussed. Finally, aspect of next-generation display will be clarified.
