TOKYO GAME SHOW and Japan Game Awards 20th Anniversary BoothHall 3

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Tokyo Game Show and Japan Game Awards, we set up the “Tokyo Game Show and Japan Game Awards 20th Anniversary Booth” in Hall 3 where you can experience the past and future of games.

“Look back on 20 Years History” Corner

In the Japan Game Awards Corner, the progression of the TOKYO GAME SHOW and Japan Game Awards will be presented with all past posters. Together with that, you can look back on the 20 year history of games, one panel for a year(in cooperation with: Famitsu editors).
There is even a space below the panels for visitors to post a message. We hope that all of your memories will connect to spread the fun and appeal of games even further. Furthermore, we have provided a station for you to try out nostalgic titles that have won a Japan Game Award. We are also displaying paper boards with congratulatory messages sent from top creators for the 20th anniversary.

“The Future of Entertainment” Corner

The technological evolution of games and entertainment shows no signs of stopping. With virtual reality at the center of attention at this year’s TOKYO GAME SHOW, in what form might we enjoy entertainment in five or ten years? We will introduce advanced technology current in research, and present one future vision of games and entertainment. You can actually experience a variety of technologies in research such as devices that reproduce the feeling of hard objects or liquids, 3D images you can touch, and goggles that incorporate the sights of multiple people into your own vision.

Experience VR ZoneHall 10

At this zone you can try out“PlayStation VR” scheduled for release in October. To try it out, you need to obtain numbered ticket distributed after the venue opens at Experience VR Zone in Hall 10. A limited quantity of numbered tickets is available.

Get a Full Understanding of AI with KeywordsHall 3

In the AI Area in Hall 3, the panel display “Get a full understanding of AI with keywords” is being presented for you to learn about AI, a technology that is expected to bring a revolution to gaming (in cooperation with: Nikkei Big Data Editor). Keywords such as AI, Watson, algorithm, singularity, and android will be introduced in a simple fashion. You will be able to gain a basic understanding of AI while also making new discoveries.

With the freely a vailable official a pp TGS2016 (iPhone/iPad/Android) for smartphones you can easily find out info such as the exhibit content and booth position of exhibitors and the event schedule, as well as take pictures with TGS characters using an AR camera. Before entering the exhibition venue, please download TGS2016 in the AppStore or Google Play.

TGS Official Video Channel

We are setting up the TGS Official Video Channel to live stream what’s going on on the event stage and e-Sports stage, introductions to and game coverage of TGS exhibition titles, as well as talk sessions with game creators and programmers, during the four days of TGS2016 from September 15th to 18th. niconico will produce and stream programs in Japanese, and Tokyo Otaku Mode will produce programs in English, and stream them through Twitch. Each service will have a booth on the venue so you can watch the programs.

The official streaming booth in English called Tokyo Otaku Mode LIVE STREAM HUT will be set up in Hall 10.

Digital Signage

We set up digital signage that display the waiting time for trial of games and handout info announced by 14 large exhibitors, as well as notifications from the TGS office. Info from four companies is displayed on screen, and is switched every 15 s econds. The s ignage is installed at 5 locations: near the area under the stairs on the north side of Halls 2, 3, and 7; and near the area under the stairs on the east side of Halls 9 and 10. In addition, you can also check the same info with the official app.

TGS2016 Official Goods

The TGS 2016 Official Goods, including T-shirts, towels, and tote bags, are designed based on the key image created by Ippei Gyoubu. A collaboration T-shirt designed by BAN-8KU, the most popular creator of Tokyo Otaku Mode, will be released as well. These goods will be available at TGS Official Goods Shops in Hall 9, in Center Mall in front of Hall 5 on the second floor and inside the Event Hall.

TGS Photo Spots and Instagram Campaign

Panels of the popular games are installed in Esplanade of the second floor of Halls 9 to 11 and the Family Game Park, settings up spots for you to have more fun of taking pictures at the TGS. You will find spots for taking pictures with TGS2016 characters (3D) using the official app’s AR camera (Center Mall and the esplanade), and a special print sticker machine for taking pictures limited to TGS, featuring the art project “Animareal” which realistically depicts anime and game worlds (free/ in the Event Hall). Add the hashtag “#tgsbestshot” to photo taken at the TGS venue and put it on Instagram. Let’s share your experience at TGS2016 globally!

CEDEC 2016 Interactive Session Special Display CornerHall 9

Release content for sessions selected from the Interactive Session held during CEDEC 2016 (Dates: August 24 to 26, 2016; Venue: Pacifico Yokohama) is displayed in Hall 9. You can experience cutting edge game-related technologies being researched at universities.

What is CEDEC?
CEDEC (Computer Entertainment Developers Conference) is the largest conference for computer entertainment developers in Japan organized by CESA (Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association), which also organizes the TOKYO GAME SHOW. The Interactive Session presents technologies related to games in a display and demonstration format rather than lecture format.

Charity auction and reconstruction assistance for the Great East Japan Earthquake Hall 1 and other area

Reconstruction assistance with TGS2016 special items

Reconstruction assistance Charity Auction will be held on 17th and 18th at the TGS2016 Event Stage in Hall 1. The provided items and products will be displayed in the “Japan Game Awards” booth in Hall 3. There will be a special rare items to be auctioned this year, so don’t miss it!
Also, a donation boxes will be placed near the polling locations of the Japan Game Awards 2016. We kindly ask for your cooperation.
