Message From The Organizer

Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA)

Chairman

Hideki Hayakawa

Welcome to “ONE WORLD, INFINITE JOY”, TOKYO GAME SHOW 2019.
Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) was founded in 1996 as a business organization primarily for home video game developers and publishers. Celebrating its 23rd anniversary, we are proud to host this event for the 29th time. First held as our founding event, it has grown into one of the world’s foremost game shows in scale and contents, with the latest in the game industry.
Amazing advances in technology allows games to instantly connect players around the world whenever and wherever you are. Sharing new exciting experiences among friends and fellow gamers enhances connectivity among people. “ONE WORLD, INFINITE JOY” reminds us of the value and opportunities that games could realize; that games can be even more fun and exciting. For game fans who cannot attend, we are extending this year’s video streaming platform and contents. Visitor or not, share the excitement at TOKYO GAME SHOW: stay connected in Asia and around the world.
The e-Sports X (Cross) competitions will be held on two special stages. Including major popular titles, there are titles from a variety of genres that anyone from children to grown ups can enjoy. The heated games will be live-streamed from TOKYO GAME SHOW.

Family Game Park is new to our show. Children of and under junior high school age accompanied by a guardian can enter free of charge. We hope families and younger children will take this opportunity to enjoy our event. It is the beginning of our outreach to families.
Indie Game Area was expanded two years ago. More independent game developers participate to announce new games, attractive to an even wider audience.
Over 600 companies and organizations have exhibited at each event since 2016 and over 250,000 attendees came for the last six consecutive years. With the strength to reach the world, TOKYO GAME SHOW has grown into one of the world’s largest game shows. We owe this success to the sponsorship provided by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (MITI), as well as the effort and cooperation of members of CESA, the exhibitors, and all those involved.

CESA considers video games a culture of its own. We host Japan Game Awards presentation ceremonies during the three days of TOKYO GAME SHOW. Individuals who have contributed to the Japanese video game industry are presented the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. Games of the Year Division awards recognize titles which exceled the previous year. The Amateur Division is for those aspiring to become professional video game creators. U18 Division, for 18-years and under, was introduced last year to encourage the next generation of creators by recognizing their original creations. And Future Division awards are chosen from any of the unreleased promising titles presented and exhibited at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2019. We invite you to the awards ceremonies, to join the celebration of the award winning games of the last Heisei Era and their creators and rediscover the wonder and possibilities of entertainment.

New developments in multi-platform and interactive communication technologies continue. We are confident visitors from all regions and countries of the world will find our show key to both business and entertainment. As we remain dedicated to contribute to the growth of this industry and Japan’s economy, we remain grateful to your continued interest and support.

Nikkei Business Publications

President & CEO

Naoto Yoshida

Nikkei Business Publications is honored to co-organize the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) for our 18th time since 2002.
TGS is being held in all areas of Makuhari Messe: Exhibition Hall 1 through 11, the Event Hall, and the International Conference Hall. The Exhibition Hall will hold another record-breaking 2,417 booths, surpassing the 2,338 booths in 2018. Everything from the many latest game titles to B2B solutions for the game industry gathers here.
TGS is unique. The participants include a wide range of game-related businesses and associations not only from Japan but all over the world. 655 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions join our show this year.
Nikkei Business Publications (Nikkei BP) has sought to enhance global recognition of Tokyo Game Show. Following the official announcement of TSG 2019 in February, Nikkei BP held orientations promoting TGS in Asian countries. Our participations in game developer events in North America, and countries such as Croatia and Russia have also raised interest. As a result, we have first time exhibitors from Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Pakistan. The number of overseas exhibitors is a proof that international expectations for TGS has been growing considerably.
TGS includes extensive exhibits, seminars many of which are focused on B2B, and e-Sports stages where heated competitions will take place. Video streaming will provide on-site excitement for game fans and those who cannot attend. We will video stream many events in English or with English subtitles so that more people around the world may enjoy TGS. Look forward to improved, easier viewing and wider, better coverage. These can be found on the official website, official app, or SNS like Twitter.
Nikkei BP is a media company. Our media such as Nikkei Entertainment!, Nikkei xTrend, NikkeixTECH, and Nikkei Business, help organize the seminar programs at TGS. Nikkei group will again report on TGS and provide news coverage in Japan and abroad.

“ONE WORLD, INFINITE JOY” is the theme for TSG 2019. We hope this theme will inspire all who are convening to make new connections whether from the game industry or user, exhibitor or visitor, from any part of the world. It is an opportunity to experience new technologies and contents to bring innovation to “one world, infinite joy”.

In closing this greeting, we extend our appreciation to many individuals and associations for their generous cooperation in organizing Tokyo Game Show 2019.
