Theme: Your Front Row Ticket to the Next Generation of Gaming
The biggest Tokyo Game Show in history,
with 131 companies exhibiting the most eagerly awaited in new software!
Over 600 games and other products - more titles on display than ever before!!

“Your Front Row Ticket to the Next Generation of Gaming,” this year’s Tokyo Game Show is organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), co-organized by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc (Nikkei BP), and supported by METI, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and special sponsor, NTT DoCoMo. This year’s event will be held from September 16 to 18, in a total space of 47,000 m2 in Exhibit Halls 1 through 7 of the Makuhari Messe Convention Center.

This, the 15th event since the inception of the Tokyo Game Show, will feature exhibitors from 11 countries and regions, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the US and even Ukraine, with displays of products and services from 131 companies, organizations and schools, including game software makers, software development tool providers and training institutes. This surpasses the previous record of 117 exhibitors at last year’s event, marking three consecutive years of year-on-year growth and making this the biggest Tokyo Game Show in history.

Exhibitors have already released details of 552 new software products scheduled to be on display, already a record number of new titles, exceeding the 508 shown at the 2003 Show. When same-day releases are factored in, this year’s event promises to see the release of on the order of 600 new game software and related products, in a total of 1,433 exhibit spaces.

Of the record-setting number of new products on display this year, three types of exhibit will be attracting the most attention: software for next-generation game platforms, mobile contents and displays by global exhibitors.

A number of games being designed for the eagerly awaited next generation of platforms will make their public debut at the Tokyo Game Show, and many titles will have playable demos. Visitors will be able to take this new lineup of games, with graphics of unprecedented clarity and depth and a wide range of network play capabilities, out for a test drive at this year’s Show.

The popularity of third-generation cell phones has led to the development of a diversity of mobile content, and at this year’s event 20 companies will be displaying their wares in the new Mobile Content area. 123 (pre-registered) titles designed for cell phone providers both within Japan and overseas will be featured, making this and the PlayStation2 list the largest categories of pre-registered product titles at the Show.

The number of international exhibitors has grown from last year’s tally of 18 companies with 82 exhibit spaces, to 30 (industry and organization) exhibitors occupying 105 slots. These will include an impressive 56-block exhibit by South Korean vendors displaying online game contents as well as displays by PC and standalone game makers and cell phone mobile content and IT developers. Game users everywhere are sure to have great expectations for the offerings from the game software suppliers and other companies from Japan and other leading countries at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
