TOKYO GAME SHOW 2023

What kind of event is it?

TOKYO GAME SHOW(TGS) is one of the world's largest gaming events, first held in 1996 and celebrating its 27th anniversary this year. Last year we had a small real venue to which the press and influencers were invited, but this year, for the first time in three years, the event will hold a real venue open to the general public. Please note that there will be some differences from TOKYO GAME SHOW of three years ago due to the various crowd control measures to be taken against Covid-19.
Also, the contents that will be available on the official website will be the same as last year. TGS will provide information through a hybrid of real venues and online content.

Makuhari Messe Halls 1-11, Event Hall, and International Conference Hall will be used.
The real venue will include General Exhibition, Smartphone Game, Gaming Hardware, Gaming Life Style, AR/VR, eSports, Game Academy, Merchandise Sales, Indie Game, Family Game Park, Business Solution, and Business Meeting Area, etc.

(Online Venue)
Information on new titles, services and products from game-related companies, official distribution by exhibitors and organizers, free trial version play, Online Experience Tour, TOKYO GAME SHOW VR 2023, Special Steam venue, and other contents are available. [For trade visitors (for exhibitors and paid attendees only)]
Online business meetings/business matching, business seminars, etc. are available.

Exhibition Period

When is the exhibition?

The real venue will be open for four days from Thursday, September 21 to Sunday, September 24, 2023.
TOKYO GAME SHOW 2023 will be held from Thursday, September 21 to Sunday, September 24, 2023.
September 21 and 22 are Business Days, and September 23 and 24 are Public Days.
Opening hours are from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. on 4days (first admission until 4:00p.m., re-entry Until 4:30p.m.).

Tickets

What types of tickets are available?

There are three types of tickets for general visitors as follows.
September 23 (Saturday): "One-Day Ticket" for admission on Saturday, September 23 from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
September 24 (Sunday): "One-Day Ticket" for admission on Sunday, September 24 from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition, there is a "TGS Supporter Club Ticket" (4,000 yen: tax included) with bonus goods that allows priority admission when the doors open in the morning on September 23 (Sat.) and 24 (Sun.), respectively.

① All tickets are date-specific.
② The application will be closed when the number of tickets sold reaches the predetermined number for each ticket type.
③ Tickets are only available online in advance. No same-day tickets will be sold at the venue*.
④ On each day, first admission is until 4:00p.m. Re-entry will be until 4:30p.m.
⑤Admission is free for elementary school students and younger.
⑥On the morning of September 23 and 24, after the doors open, Supporters' Club ticket holders and one-day ticket holders will be admitted in that order.

*Special tickets for the physically challenged (100 yen including tax) will be sold at the venue on the day of the event.

When can I purchase admission tickets and for how long?

Admission tickets for the Public Day (September 23, and 24) are already on sale. Please note that the number of admission tickets is limited. Where can I buy admission tickets?

Only available in advance online at Event Regist.
Tickets will go on sale from 12:00 on July 26 (Wed.).
Sales will end as soon as the planned number of tickets is reached. please visit at the ticket page for more information.

Will tickets be sold on the day of the event?

Please note that NO Public Day tickets will be sold on the day of the event. Only Special discount admission tickets will be sold.

Can I enter on a different designated date than the date on the admission ticket I purchased?

All admission tickets are date-specific. Unused tickets will NOT be admitted on a different date.

Can I get a refund?

NO refunds will be made for personal reasons.

Can I use one admission ticket for two days?

No admission. Admission tickets are date-specific, so you will not be allowed to enter the venue until the date and start time indicated on your ticket.

I would like to go as a group.

Admission tickets may be purchased up to 4 per account. Please note that group purchases are not available.

Do you offer discounts for the elderly?

Special discount admission tickets (100 yen (tax included)) will be available for those 70 years of age or older at the dedicated ticket window located at Makuhari Messe.
Advance tickets will not be sold.

Do you offer discounts for the disabled?

Special discount admission tickets (100 yen (tax included)) will be sold to the following visitors at the dedicated ticket window located at Makuhari Messe.
Advance tickets will not be sold.
Those who present one of the following documents: Disability Certificate, War Injury Certificate, or A-Bomb Survivor's Health Certificate.
One caregiver is required.

TGS2023 Supporters Club

When are tickets sold?

TGS Supporters Club tickets will go on sale from 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22. For more information, please visit the TGS Tickets page.

When can I get the special offers (T-shirts and stickers)?

Reward goods will be handed over at the dedicated reception desk until around 11:00 in the morning, before you line up in the priority admission lane. After the priority entrance lane is cleared, you will receive them at the information desk at the 2nd floor Central Entrance. For T-shirts, you can choose your size (S, M, L, XL) when you purchase your ticket, but the color is determined for each day (Saturday, 23th and Sunday, 24th). Size cannot be changed after purchase. Also, stickers will be the same design for both days.

What does it mean to "provide priority admission for a certain period of time after the doors open in the morning?"

Priority Entrance Lanes for TGS Supporters Club tickets will be set up after the first train arrives at JR Kaihin-Makuhari Station. Please follow the guidance of the Makuhari Messe information signs and staff and line up in the Admission Standby Line.
Please note that if you enter from Halls 9-11, you will not be able to pick up the numbered tickets for test runs, etc. that will be distributed in Halls 1-8. If you enter from Halls 9-11, please present your voucher to the information desk in front of Hall 5 on the 2nd floor concourse of Halls 1-8 after 11:00 a.m. to pick up your rewards. Redemption can be made only on the same day (valid date).

TGS Supporters Club tickets are set by day, can I enter on a different day?

Tickets are valid only on the validity date indicated on the ticket. TGS Supporters Club ticket valid on Saturday, September 23 will not allow admission on Sunday, September 24. The reverse is also true. Please check the validity date on the ticket before coming to the event.

What is required for "Identification"?

You will need to bring a "driver's license," "passport," "health insurance card," "student ID card," or "my number card" that can be used to verify your name. If you do not bring your card, it may take some time to confirm your name, which may delay your entry or prevent you from entering the venue.

I purchased two tickets, can I enter separately with my friend?

Please enter the venue with both purchasers in order to confirm the identity of the purchaser.
Please note that if you arrive separately, only the purchaser will be allowed to enter.

Visitors from overseas

Can I buy admission tickets from overseas?

I need a visa to come to Japan and would like you to issue a letter of invitation.

TOKYO GAME SHOW does not issue invitation letters for general visitors from overseas. Please consult your travel agent.

Wheelchairs

Do you have wheelchairs available for rent?

Wheelchairs are available at the information counter near the center entrance on the second floor of Halls 1-8. However, due to the limited number of wheelchairs, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, please contact Makuhari Messe (Tel: +81-43-296-0001). A special gate for wheelchair-accessible visitors is available on the 2nd floor of Halls 1-8. Please ask the staff for details.

Admission of children under elementary school age including infants and toddlers

Are children under primary school age admitted?

Children of primary school age and under are admitted free of charge.
For information on the Family Game Park, where parents are also admitted free of charge, see the special page (to be released in mid-August).

Strollers can enter the exhibition venue?

For your safety, we ask visitors to refrain from using a stroller at the exhibition. The exhibition venue will be very crowded. The stroller storage area is available. Please ask staff for the locations.

Rental strollers available?

There are NO rental strollers available. For your safety, we ask visitors to refrain from using a stroller at the exhibition venue.

Diaper-changing stations available?

They are located in all women's restrooms in the venue. In addition, cribs are available in front of the restrooms at the central entrance of Makuhari Messe.

Nursing rooms are there?

A nursing room is located at the central entrance on the second floor of Hall 1-8.
The main facilities include a nursing area (3 private booths), diaper changing table, washbasin, and hot water dispenser.

Pets

Pets allowed in the exhibition?

It is not allowed to enter the venue with your pets except partner dogs or guide dogs.

Lost & Found

I lost my belongings. Who should I contact?

If you lose belongings at the exhibition venue during show time, please come to the Lost and Found Center on the north side of Hall 5.
Please contact the Makuhari Messe Total Management Center (Tel: +81-43-296-0531) after the exhibition is over (September 25 or later).

Cosplay

Is cosplay allowed?

Yes, but there are some restrictions, and we have some requests.

Is any kinds of cosplay okay?

We do not allow cosplay that goes against good taste or makes people uncomfortable.

Are photo and video shooting allowed?

Shooting is allowed only in certain areas designated by the management office. It is prohibited in the changing rooms, cloak area, around exhibition booths, busy hallways, etc.

Taking photos and videos

Are photo and video shooting allowed?

With regard to taking photographs or recording video of the exhibiting companies’ booths (including any exhibits and companions), the rules set out by each exhibiting company must be observed. When shooting photo or video of specific attendees such as cosplayers, please obtain the individual’s approval to protect their privacy and portrait rights. When shooting photo or video of the event stage, rules will differ depending on the program. Please follow the staff's instructions.

Waiting Start Time

What time can I line up at the venue?

Overnight activities are strictly prohibited.After the first train arrives at JR Kaihin Makuhari Station, we will guide you to the entrance waiting line. Please follow the guidance signs and staff to the entrance waiting line.

Trial play of titles classified as CERO Z

What is required to try out a game with a CERO Z classification?

To try out some game titles, such as those in CERO Z category (game software containing expressions intended only for those 18 years of age or older), you will be required to present various forms of identification (driver's license, passport, student ID, etc.) to verify your age. Age verification will be conducted at each booth. Please follow the guidance of the booth staff.

What is your viewing environment?

TGS Official Website can be viewed on PCs, smartphones, tablets, and other browsers.
Official programs can be viewed on various platforms such as YouTube, Twittrer, Nico Nico, Twitch, and Facebook.
The following browsers are recommended for comfortable viewing. Please note that the site may not display properly if you are using a browser other than the recommended ones.

Smartphone users: Standard smartphone browser with Android/iOS

Exhibitors

How can I find out what companies are exhibiting?

For the latest list of exhibitors, please check the "Exhibitors" page on the official TGS website. The "Exhibitors" page has a button to display "Detailed Information", so please check the details of the exhibits in the "Detailed Information" window.

I would like to know which companies are exhibiting at the real venue.

If you see the tag "Real Exhibitors" in the company window you viewed on the "Exhibitors" page of the official TGS website, it means that the company is exhibiting at Makuhari Messe venue. After that, please refer to the "Venue MAP" to be released on early September. and you will find the names of exhibiting companies in the list and other pages in the floor map.

Official Programs

Does it cost money to watch official programs?

All official programs are available free of charge.
For business seminars, only those who can log in to the TGS Business Day Pre-Registration System can watch (non-exhibitors are charged).

What can I see in the official program?

TGS Official Programs include "Official Exhibitor Programs," in which exhibitors provide the latest information, keynote speeches, organizer programs created in cooperation with game media, "Sense of Wonder Night (SOWN)" a presentation event by indie game developers, and the announcement and presentation of the "Japan Game Awards".

How can I watch the official program?

TGS Official Programs will be available on YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, Niconico, Facebook, TikTok Live, DouYu (China), bilibili (China), Douyin (China), HUYA (China), as well as on the special TGS page on Steam. Enjoy the programs on the platform of your choice. However, some programs may not be available on all platforms due to copyright and other issues.
All official programs on TGS2023 will be available in English with simultaneous interpretation. Simultaneous interpretation in Chinese and other languages will also be available for selected programs.
If you encounter any problems in viewing the programs, please check the troubleshooting and other information for each platform.

Can I watch official programs after the streaming time? How long can I watch a program? Can I watch it as many times as I want?

Most of the programs will be archived on the official TGS channel of each video distribution platform after distribution. You can watch them as many times as you like for free. Please note, however, that some programs may have a limited archive period.

I live overseas. Can I watch in the same environment as in Japan?

In some countries, there are programs that cannot be viewed or video distribution platforms that are not available due to rights issues or other reasons.

Do I need to pre-register or log in to watch official programs?

No pre-registration or login is required to view official programs.
Business seminar "TGS Forum" can be viewed only by those who can log in to the TGS Business Pre-Registration System. GOLD Pass and Business Day Pre-Registration ticket holders and exhibitors can view it for free.
